SUKI WATERHOUSE has photographed model friends Cara Delevingne and Georgia May Jagger for a new exhibition opening tomorrow at the Eb and Flow Gallery in London. I'll Be Your Mirror sees three of Next Model's talents get behind the camera to take control of how their lives are perceived.
"Photographing friends means that there's a spontaneity to the images," Waterhouse told us. "I have a lot of love for my friends and family and I love taking cool pictures of them. With the shots of Cara and Georgia, I think that they capture them well. In terms of self-portraits, they're more personal. It's like peeking in on myself once they're developed."
Waterhouse - whose work will appear alongside the photography of Reggie Yates and Imogen Morris Clarke - first became interested in taking pictures when she was at school. Her favourite photographers include Miroslav Tichy and Sally Mann.
"A certain point came when I wanted to document growing-up adventures," she said. "Then I met photographer Ellis Scott, who gave me cameras and projected his photo energy onto me."
The exhibition is the first time Waterhouse's work has gone on show and she admits that it wasn't easy to decide which pictures to display.
"I had a lot of help," she laughed. "There was so much I wanted to put in there, I had to have a Kalms herbal remedy tablet and calm down. In the end, I chose ones that linked up the best in terms of time and events. There are pictures that I want to save for years to come."
